What If A Double Dose Of Pradaxa Is Taken

My husband took his Saturday and Sunday evening meds during dinner; pradaxa, metopropal tartrate, and flomax. Is this a huge problem? I'm more worried about the pradaxa. I looked up the metopropal tartrate but could not find pradaxa.

Hi Patti,

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center's drug interaction tool, there is a quote "medium interaction potential" between Flomax and Metoprolol. Their warning denotes the following concerns:

*Treatment with both drugs may result in low blood pressure (too low I'm assuming)
*Using both together may result in an increased risk of certain side effects
*Call your doctor if you feel lightheaded, or have fainting spells

They also go on to state that your doctor may change the dose or how often you use one or both of the medications in order to lower such risk factors.

I didn't find anything listed pertaining to Pradaxa, but I know this doesn't necessarily mean no interactions exist either, so I would probably encourage you or your husband to contact the prescribing doctor just to be on the safe side. The doctor should also be able to address concerns about a double dose of Pradaxa (which I imagine isn't taken intentionally and just a one time ordeal?)
