What Has Changed About Amphetamines?

have amphetamines changed over the years?i had a prescription for dexidrine.i was focused,energetic and got a good buzz.i recently was put on adderalxr 20mg, amphetamine salts 10 mg 4x a day[barr] not at the same time,however,the results were disappointing.mildly focused and no real high even when i took more of the 10mgs-whats up?and can anyone suggest something that feels like the old dexedrine did?being treated for adhd. would appreciate your suggestions.thank-you

Sounds like maybe you are looking for some sort of diet pill? My diet pill has the same outcome you are lookinf for, it's addipex 37.5 MG TAB QUA, The generic is called PHENTERMINE 37.5 MG TAB QUA, THEY ALSO COME IN TIME RELEASED CAPSULES! Hope this helps, good luck.:-)

Actually, the difference you are probably running into is that the Adderall XR is a time released formulation, so the mixed amphetamines are slowly released throughout the day, rather than all at once. Thus, you will not get the same rush/high that you may experience with medications that release the ingredients all at once.

If the time released formulation isn't working well for you, there is a regular release formulation of Adderall that is available, so you may want to discuss that option, with your doctor.

"if you could find a very rare eccentric aged former owner/pharmacist's of a individual pharmacy, that were much more common in the USA in the 1970's vs, the present........"Adderall" was conceived with "Richwood Pharmaceuticals" who, in 1993, purchased the manufactring rights, to the formula, from "Obetrol Pharmaceuticals, a division of Rexar Corp. of Valley Stream, NY USA, who used the identical formula of "Adderall I/R" from the mid 1970's until late in 1993, marketed as "Obetrol 10mg and Obetrol 20mg.
The historical point is this, "from at least the year 1965 until 1973, (that is 8 years minimum of continuous production) today's Adderall, was, marketed as "Obetrol 10 mg and Obetrol 20 mg) BUT THE FORMULA WAS STRONGER, the 10mg tablets, had, 2.5 mg of methamphetamine saccharate, 2.5 mg of methamphetamine hydrochloride, 2.5 mg of amphetamine sulfate, (I/R) and, 2.5 mg of dextroamphetamine sulfate (I/R) Source: PDR 1966, page 811, and, PDR, 1973, pg 1027. I am from a generation, that, remembers the once quite common stimulants containing some methamphetamine, or pure methamphetamine, (such as Desoxyn IR, and Desoxyn Gradumet tablets, in, 5mg 10mg and 15 mg, "Gradumet" meaning sustainted release pure Methamphetamine" mfg was Abbott Labs of North Chicago, Illinois.(white, pink, and yellow tabs, the latter, being the 15mg Methamphetamine. The "Obetrol" tabs 10mg Blue embossed OP, and 20 mg tabs pink, embossed OP.
I had the good fortune, of someone, who ran in my circles, in the 1980's, who, discovered, a very dry attic, of "mason jars stuffed full of these pills, and, many other, C-II combination Stimulant+barbituates, and Stimulant+Methaqualone, and just, simple, I/R Seconal, Nembutal, Carbitral Kapseals, Tuinal Pulvules, etc, and, although they were from 10 to 15 years, old, including, some 1968 "sample Biphetamine 20mg" (Black Beauties) with the 1968 Olympic symbols on the large sealed matchbook type of "Physicians Sample", they were as potent, (from dry storage, in a temperate controlled environment, and, in very tightly sealed, glass mason jars from a recently deceased, relative, who once owned a pharmacy, the grandson, discovered the "hidden stach" and, as one quite familar with stimulants and downers, with several years of abstinence, I assure you they were true "rocket fuel" Obetrols, etc, compared to the, generic, "Barr Labs, or Shire US, products, I've had RX's for my lifetime ADHD, or, actually Teva of Israel, generics, of I/R Adderall, which are mfg in Sellersville, PA (I collect C-II bottles present & past from yesteryear). Been seeking two target specific meds, that have been off the market for, 26 yrs on one, and for
19 yrs on another product, but, have, not had any luck with those finding those meds (yet) I choose not to mention, on this forum, (not applicable to the forum topic) I will only say, IMHO, for a medication to be so controversial, as, "Adderall I/R or X/R" it is a joke to me, that all of the NASA Mission Astronaunts, had, "Dexedrine" in their Emergercy Medical Kits" and, the USAF, pilot flying B-52's had easy access to "Dexedrine on their Vietnam bombing missions" flying, multi-million dollar government aircraft, loaded with high powered explosives...true even up to the Desert Storm days, to those in US military aviation. Source: a former, USAF, E-5, who knew, the pharmacists, in the various, USAF dispenseries, and USAF Flight Surgeons, who wrote the scripts. Stimulants have been controversial, since about 1970, with the campaign to demonize them, and history shows that the manufacturers and/or brand choices, have been reduced, from two dozen, now, to
only a handful, as the I/R stimulants, are continually being demonized, for I fear a phase out. Just my 2 cents worth. Tobacco kills more humans than speed freaks, it is ludricious to dole out the statistics....................
