The SR stands for sustained release, which means it is a time released formulation, so cutting or crushing it could cause someone to get too much of the medication, at once. This could result in severely lowered blood sugar and other medication complications.
However, if she suffered no ill effects, you shouldn't have any reason to worry, but you should check with her doctor to be certain.
