No, it is a chemical refined from other substances to create an opiate analgesic.
The FDA classifies it as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Many opiates are derived from opium, but once chemically processed they are not the same substance, many are even synthetic, so you'd not be able to find anything in nature that works and affects someone the same.
Vicodin contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen (IE: Tylenol) and the Hydrocodone, which is the active narcotic is actually classified as being semi-synthetic. It is synthesized from Codeine, which is derived from the alkaloids in the opium poppy.
Thus, any that are not completely synthetic do go back to the opium poppy, which is a plant, but they aren't actually that plant, anymore.
