what does the word apo stand for when it precedes the name of my medication

APO stands for Apotex Pharmaceuticals, they are a generic prescription medication manufacturer. In Canada, generic medications are commonly referred to in such a manner, an abbreviation for the manufacturer, a hyphen and then the actual drug name.

I think it helps avoid confusion, when someone receives a medication made by a different manufacturer than the ones they were used to getting.
