Yes, you can eat eggs, while taking this antibiotic. It is only effective at treating or preventing bacterial infections. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
That said, no it is not effective at treating any viruses.
At this time, there is no cure for herpes, but there are medications that can help lessen the frequency of outbreaks. One such medication is Acyclovir. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and stomach pain.
You can ask your doctor about taking it as a daily preventative.
