What Can You Take With The Insomnia When Taking Contrave (Top voted first)

I just start taking Contrave. I am on day 5 with one pill in the morning and haven't been sleeping much at all. Scared to take two pills a day. Any suggestions on what will help? Don't want to stop taking it because I can tell my cravings are more controlled. I already take a Melatonin a night. I also drank some sleepy time tea last night. Will this go away?

Hi Ann,

Sorry to hear about your challenges with insomnia. According to NIH.gov, a "sudden increase in energy, racing thoughts or trouble sleeping" is listed as a side effect of Bupropion (one of the active ingredients in Contrave).

They also list, "trouble sleeping or a big increase in energy" as a side effect of Naltrexone (the other active ingredient in Contrave).

With such side effects listed, I wonder if there's anything at all that would help outside of stopping the underlying culprit (Contrave) altogether... and perhaps it's just a matter of deciding whether the benefits outweigh the cons?

Nightb 5 and I get a couple of hours a night. Is there nothing I can do? I paid 233 for 100 pills and that’s on insurance. it’s just aggravating because I can’t function with no sleep. It seems to be working with cravings and I’ve lost 3 lbs. I guess I can call my doctor on Monday! Does anyone know if anything besides melatonin that want hurt me?
