I wouldn't suggest drinking alcohol while on this antibiotic. The consumption of alcohol decreases the effectiveness of antibiotics and even a single drink or several drinks of alcohol can inhibit a drug's metabolism by competing with the drug for the same set of metabolizing enzymes. Alcohol reduces production of white blood cells, those that fight against infection, so you are working against the antibiotic by drinking while on it.

Furthermore Sulfamethoxazole has contraindications against alcohol, that may potentially cause more serious side effects:

"Drinking alcohol while taking sulfamethoxazole may cause side effects such as flushing, nausea, vomiting, and heart rate disturbances. Alcohol ingestion should be avoided while taking sulfamethoxazole."

To answer your other question, yes, the rash should gradually fade once the infection is gone. This length of time for it to fade will vary from person to person; but you should see improvement within a couple weeks or less. Also, working out shouldn't be a problem while you are taking antibiotics. Just be sure to wash your hands or feet after walking around in the gym locker and using equipment.
