Hello, Mike! How are you?

It really depends on which bacteria has caused the infection. For instance, if it is due to MRSA, then the preferred antibiotic would be Bactrim, usually one double strength tablet, every 12 hours for anywhere from 10 to 14 days.

However, it is not an appropriate antibiotic for all types of bacteria. Thus, it would be best to have the infection cultured by your doctor to discover the best treatment.

The FDA lists typical antibiotic side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

Is there anything else I can help with?
