after 29 years of flawless skin I recently started breaking out all over with painful acne. I started taking Doxycycline hyclate (50 mg) two days ago. I would like to know how long it will take to see a difference in my skin.

Hi Veronica,

I'm not an MD so I cannot say precisely when you will notice relief of the acne; but I have spoken directly with a dermatologist about the length of time it takes to see the effects of using new skin care products on ones face, and she said it takes about 30 days of consistent use of that product before you can know for sure if it really does what it's supposed to do.

I would assume direct ingestion of a pill would react sooner than 30 days, but Doxycycline may or may not require you to build it up in your system for a couple weeks before you notice its primary effects. I have personally fought the battle against acne, so I know how much of a nuisance it can be.
