Weight Gain Lexamil
UpdatedI was prescribed Lexamil 5mg and I took 1 on the 11.11.2010 before reading the prescription note. I am feeling so overweight, and my bowel movement is totally altered. How long does the effects last? Alternatively how do I reverse this?

Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, it is an antidepressant.
Yes, many of them can cause some weight gain, however, taking on pill is not enough to have that effect.
It may have caused some bloating and intestinal upset, however, these are normal side effects and should wear off in a few weeks as your body adjusts to the medication.
There is also no way to reverse it, other than to just stop taking it for awhile.
Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

I have been on Lexamil for about 18 months now and I struggle terribly with my weight. I have picked up a total of 22 kg in 18 months. Look I know that you can't have your bread buttered on both sides but is there not a way that you can try and reduce the weight gain whilst using this product. Both my husband and I have been on a diet for the past 2 months he has lost 17kg and I have not lost 1kg.
I have been on Lexamil 10mg for about 4 and a half years. I gained more than 20kgs and tried dieting and exercising but nothing makes me lose any weight. I also take Femodene as birth control. I used to weigh 56kg, but currently I'm 77kg which is also not healthy and I just keep gaining. I got married and have absolutely no libido. This is putting strain on my husband and myself. I tried to change over to Wellbutrin XL by my doctor's orders, but I am very emotional and does not feel the effect like I used to with the lexamil. Currently I am in transition and drink lexamil only every 2nd night, but I don't feel that the Wellbutrin is working. I also lost my mother in September 2012 and it is really getting to me now and I feel I can't cope with her death. I never felt like this with Lexamil. But I really need to lose weight and get my libido back! Please please please help me? Isn't there another antidepressant that I can use without the side effect of gaining weight or libido loss? Or even if I take something to supress the effects of Lexamil it would be great. I am really at a low about this.
I have recently gone from 10mg Lexamil to 5mg. In just over a month, I have gained 5kg. I exercise x5 a week and eat very healthily, so this weight gain has been a huge concern and very confusing. I have been reading about this pill and have now realised that my weight gain has to be from Lexamil. Why, if I have lowered the dose? This is sooooooo frustrating!!!!
