Weaning Trazadone And Ativan

Hi all - new to this forum. I started taking Trazodone and Ativan after back injury and subsequent depression and insomnia. Now months later, I am weaning off the Ativan (down from 2.5 to .5 and running!). Doing it slowly and it's going well. But I am experiencing side effects from the Traz (blurred vision, headaches, etc.) and beginning to bring my dose down as well (was at 100 mg, now down by 12.5!). Any advice/concerns about doing both at same time?

How slowly are you doing it?

If you're tapering both, at the same time, then it's hard to say which may be causing these symptoms, it might even be due to both of them, since both are psychoactive and have been known to cause such symptoms upon withdrawal.

You need to be extremely careful with the Ativan, since withdrawing too fast from benzodiazepines creates the risk of seizures.

I do suggest consulting your doctor about these symptoms, to be safe, but otherwise, it's really just going to be a matter of time.

Thanks for your reply. I've been totally off the Ativan for about a week now and it feels like a great accomplishment. Still on the Traz, and eventually will reduce that as well. thanks for your reply!
