Weaning Off Morphine

OK so I have been on75mg morning and 75 before bed total 150mgs of slow release morphine a day for like 8 years.from a severe back accedent that just seems to get worse and worse.even with the amount I am taking I still have pain of about a 6 or 7 outta 10 being the worse. along with 11 other meds i take daily.now my doc wants to cut out my morphine 15mgs a week till I am at 0 I am kinda scared sense I am a signal father of 2.and with the weight i have gained and the initional injury and knowing the pain I am gonna be in from a couple of times where I did not have any med for a few days I am wondering what my options are or if there is for options lol. p.s remember back has not been fixed lol thanks shawn

Hey buddy I truly feel for you but if your treating doctor expects you to wean off of your morphine after 8 years of continuous opiate therapy,
ESPECIALLY IF A RESOLUTION HAS NOT BEEN ACHIEVED,Then may I submitt for your consideration that he DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BEST INTEREST IN MIND..I'd highly suggest you reach out to a orthopedic or pain management specialist to review your treatment and possible solutions for your condition. Sadly you will experience some withdrawal symptoms but what's far worse will be the elevated pain levels you will experience without the morphine. I hope you can find a quick resolution for your predicament.All the best to you.God bless.

I was afraid that was gonna be the answer lmao have been to physical therapy more times then I can remeber. I get thoses long azz needles guided inch by inch with the ex ray machine as he puts them right next to my spine lmao only knocks the pain down from a 7 to a5 it helps but not enough. I have been at the same dose 75mg in morning and same at night for 4 years or so never lost a prescription or asked for more so it's not like I am abusing them.this week she knocked out the other 15mg so not I am down to 60 2 times a day so I phoned my docs yesterday and asked to make an appointment with her and they told me no I have to talked to the pain management girl I said I want an appointment with my doctor they said she has no openings till April.I am stunned and can't belive the doctor that first treated me and at the 3rd year with her told me I was gonna be like this for the rest of my life ffs.
