What are signs of an allergic reaction to compazine and being overdosed?

I was in the hospital about a year ago.. and I was given compazine. I will NEVER allow a doctor to give that s*** to me again. When asked now if Im allergic to anything, I ALWAYS say Compazine. After getting a dose of it, I didnt know what to do with myself. I wanted to sit up, and I wanted to lay down. I wanted to move, I felt like I was sliding off the bed. Taking that med, made me feel like I was crawling out of my own skin. I feel so bad for you if you had a reacton to it. I got sooo bad with the whole thing that they tried givin me benadrill (sorry for spelling) to help take the side effects away, but it didnt help. If there is anything else I can help you with, or if you have anymore question. Please feel free to write back.

P.s. I curious to know how you felt on the Compazine.

I was given Compazine for nausia, in the hospital after having my appendix out. I had a full out seizure as a result of allergic reation. That is the only time I have ever had a seizure and I dont ever want to have one again! But, my mother just took compazine after a surgery and she was fine on it.

Yes, I had never had a seizure till I was given a dose of Compazine after surgery. when I was admitted to the hospital years later with extreme morning sickness they wanted to give me Compazine and we explained it caused me to have seizures. The Doctor had never heard of that being a side effect so he administered the shot with Benodryl and I had Grand Mal Seizures. He yelled at the nurse thinking she forgot to administer the Benodryl but she said I did give her the Benodryl it was scary and I think the Doctor was scared I was going to sue.

Compazine lowers the seizure threshold and seizures can occur. Dosing with benadryl can help to alleviate this risk in some individuals, but is not always successful. Seizures occuring in the presence of Compazine are initially treated with Benadryl. If you had a seizure, you should probably research seizure threshold lowering medications and avoid them when possible.

Compazine has been taken off of the US market now.
