Was Getting A Prescription For 30 Days Of 10 Mg Oxycodone But Now Only A 2 Week Supply At A Time...why?

was getting a prescription for 30 days of 10 mg oxycodone but now only a 2 week supply at a time...why? what has caused my pain manangement doctor to only give me 15 day supply?I have always gotten a month supply until my pain doc rertired and was relaced.I just want to know what would cause a doctor to do this?

Unfortunately, the only one that can answer that for you, with any certainty, would be your doctor. The rest of can only guess, it might just be due to them trying to more closely monitor patients, as requested by the DEA last year, or there may be some other reason.

According to the FDA, this is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Did they mention anything at your last appointment?

They could be trying to get you off them.

Our State recently enacted very very strict prescription guidelines because of the horrible crippling opioid crisis in our State. More people are dying from OD's than traffic accidents for the first time EVER here. Even with the Narcon, OD patients are being revived 2-3 times a weekend, or there would be even more deaths. IOW, the docs are really being watched for prescriptions. A sprained ankle doesn't get you an automatic pain killer anymore- you get Tylenol and sent on your way.

I went through the same thing. I am terminal and I get fentanyl, oxy ir and. Morphine liquid. My dad picked up all but the oxy I only got #70 and usually get #150 a month. Pharmacist told my dad there is a shortage on them and hopefully they can change my dose and cut pills in half if need be or give me 10mg and take 2 at a time. I dunno but I was on opana before all these meds… both ER and Instants and first the ER got impossible to find then the instants were the same way which happened in December 2022 and I have just gotten used to the oxy and same thing happens! It’s soooo aggravating. I don’t feel like calling everywhere to try and find them. The pharmacy techs are so rude and mean. I’m like if it weren’t for me you wouldn’t have a job!
