That would depend on how much methadone. Subutext doesn't have Naloxin in it do withdrawls wouldn't be in your future. However subutext is more efficient if taken at the same time everyday, here's why. When you take it the sub builds up in your plasma and has a much longer life than methadone or other opiates. As it stays it builds up the plasma levels out, creating like a barrier for pain. Does that make sense to you? When the levels drop you start to feel more pain and eventually withdrawls if not continue and also if your building a tolerance which I have had issues with and never had with other opiates. Methadone wasn't for me. I was tired and always on edge and my kids hated me on it. They said I wasn't myself that I was mean. I then seen it in my sister as well. As soon as the clinic got subutext I switched back and have never been happier. Technically you could take the methadone now but it depends on the mg of the subutext and mg of methadone. If your currently at a clinic I would discuss this with them. Mixing meds is never a good thing and I've been in pain and felt I had no choice I had to take what I could get. What people don't understand is the overabundance didn't create addicts the restrictions from it did. Like any drug dealer it's a frebee or a taste. When your physically dependant then yank it away and leave them needing more whether by physical dependance or a mental one. When it's scarce people trip out and it created more addicts. All so they could have legal drug dealers give it to you at 17 or 16 a pop a day. For some that's cheaper for me it's not. But my dr. Is scared of the biggest drug dealer of all, the dea.
AWAKENED: You do realize that Subutex, the one WITHOUT the naloxone, can still throw you into precipitated withdrawals, right? The naloxone in Suboxone is only in there to keep people from inj'ing. the bupe. It's the buprenorphine itself that throws you into the precipitated withdrawals, not the naloxone.
Also, taking methadone AFTER bupe isn't the problem, as far as precipitated w/ds. It's when you take the bupe too soon after full agonist opioids like methadone that is the problem. You probably won't feel the methadone if you take it too soon after bupe, but it won't make you sick.
