Walgreens Oxycodone Filling Tricks (Page 3)

Updated

I have read all the posts and found that the best way i found is on the 29th of aug i talked to the pharmacy manager and explained the dilemma i was facing and she told me just to transfer all my other scripts to her location and then drop off my oxy script and methadone and that they would order them for me if they were out.Bam ten days later i got a call yesterday that they had my script filled and to come pick them up.Hope this helps those having problems getting their meds filled.Good luck and god bless.

I am 62 and every once ibn awhile they have my oxycodone 30"s she calls me a drug dealer, I have been on them with Lee memorial insurance for seven years from s bad car acident, my wife lost her job and there went my insurance. I have been felling like hell for 4 months, been everywhere, my 92 year old Dad has same problem.

Just put on Morphine 30mg. 2 times daily for severe life changing chronic leg and back pain. I tried 4 pharmacy's for the script before I found one to fill the script after a 2 1/2 hour wait, I was treated like a criminal by the pharmacist. She said things like she will fill the script this month but she can't guarantee she or any other Walgreens will fill it again, and Walgreens will be monitoring my doctor visits!!!WHAT!!! I should talk to my Doctor according to her and see if muscle relaxers and antinflammatories will do the job. Come on get real. I am 64 years old and have been in severe chronic pain for many years. Go after the junkie's! Help the people who are in so much pain that life is unbearable.

You are a lucky one...i was with Wagreens for 8 years until they were red flaged from DEA for selling pain meds on black market and so they couldnt fill any pain meds for 4 months...so i had to go pharmacy to pharmacy until a Barclays took my scrips and filled for $1700.00!!! a month when walgreens was $290.00!! Im getting so screwed! And i keep trying Walgreens and Publix, but thanks to the DEA each pharmacy only gets so many and none of them have enough for everyone. Its so sad.

Dont feel bad, i was also with walgreens for years and after they also stopped filling mine when all the craziness started. I went to every pharmacy in my area and all the ones around me and found only one and i pay 2500.00 a month.. most all of my savings is just about gone and i dont know what else to do. I suppose try another surgery and pray it helps... i dont think things are going to get better and its a real shame...

Yes the pharmacist's have way too much power, and they treat us like criminals, I live in southern california. I refuse to buy from walgreens, and have switched to Rite-Aid.

Walgreens in indianapolis area and some other have something called the good faith filling policy thats in place because of the trouble they got into for filling bogus scripts and selling medication outside of the pharmacy. It makes almost impossible to get anything filled. Everything is a red flag to them. Being on the meds for more than 6 months, paying cash for your meds, hell even walgreens not being within geographical proximity of your house or doctors office is a red flag. The policy even advises them to call your doctor and ask for your diagnosis. Is it within the standered of care and much more. Type in good faith filling policy into google theres even a pdf file with a actual copy. Today they are holding my script telling me I cant fill till the eighth. Im out of medication as of lastnight I should have been abke to get it on time today. The pharmasist told me that I was not cleared till the eighth to pick it up and claimed the doctor office specifically said not to have it picked up till the eighth. Called my doctor of course the pharmasist is just trying to get around it because my doctors office didnt tell them that. I do believe my doctors office I have a great relationship great track record. So I call back the pharmacy and she give me some other excuse since she was caught. I tell her I want my script transferred to another walgreens. They proceed to tell me I cannot transfer a controlled substance more than once. This is a schedual 3 btw. Ive called around to every other place I can. There is no law or no rule saying this no other walgreens pharmacist knows anything about this. One tried to work with me and get my script transferred and they are holding my script hostage. Mind you this isnt a script with refills it was a script that had a partial fill and had already been approved. This is ridiculous what they are doind and why is the pharnasist making excuses then sted of saying its against my discretion. I need help there is no way I can make ot to the eighth without serious pain and consequences.

I am a disabled person. I had back surgery several years ago which was failed. I have a compressed nerve and very messed up disc in my back. I take oxycodone 30 mg. All of a sudden I have had problem trying to get it filled. I have tried lakeland, plant city at walgreens an publix supermarkets. I have been filling between these two pharms for years now. I have a legit scripts an a very good Dr out of Tampa. After going through 15 Drs he's the first one that has helped me control my pain. Now I can't get filled. Publix pharmacy tech at Plant city told me last month that they didn't get my oxy or time release in at all an it would be next month. When I got to the parking lot I ran into a friend that takes same thing after car accident. She just an hour prior got both hers filled yet I was told they didn't get them in. I have ran around to many many now trying to fill. I guess because I'm not regular customer they are not filling although my normal two places are not filling after doing it for years. I lay in bed for days on end an even weeks when my back and nerve pain gets out of control. I didn't ask for this pain and I hate it but it's from a accident many years ago. Anyone have an pharmacies they could recommend? I would love to find one pharmacy an just go there as a regular customer every month. Tx for any help.

Well here's one for the books! I've been taking Lortabs for over 20 years. I've dabbled in everything from lortab, percocet, oxycontin, methadone, mary jane, coke, fentanyl patches, xanxax, valium, morphine, the list goes on and on and on. Just use your imagination. Anyways. I live in the great state of Tennessee where methamphetamine is abundantly available and you have to go through an act of congress to obtain anything with pseudoephedrine in it. Well a couple of years ago state officials passed a bill that restricts and closely monitors prescription drugs, specifically controlled II and III. They were focusing on drugs such as lortab, xanax, oxycodone, and things of that nature. Now there's no "early refills." There's no 1 or 2 day early refills even at the pharmacists discretion. If the prescription says take 1 tablet every 8 hours a day and the doctor writes you a script for 90 tablets then they cannot and will not fill another script for 30 days. Period. Yes, the doctor can authorize early refills but it is still pharmacy's decision to proceed or not. You get my point. They are really tight about narcotics now. They hold on to them like they're your balls! At any rate. Today I'm sure many of you can relate. From running out early to actually being cut short to just partying and not having enough to last the whole month, it's no fun when you don't have enough! So, my script is for 120 a month for 30 days. My PCP (primary care physician) prescribes them to me. I do not go to a pain clinic or anything. My doctor is totally cool. He's let me get early refills several times and a few other favors. So that time came again for me to get my script again but, this time was different. I didn't have the money to go see him. I am paying just cash each visit due to no insurance. Thanks Obamacare! That's a whole nother story. Moving forward. I didn't have the money to go see him this time so i debated on what to do. After a few days consideration i decided to just call him and tell him the truth. I left a message for his nurse and when she called me back I told her the situation and asked her if she could ask my wonderful doctor if he could just call me in my script. 10 minutes later she calls me back and says that she can call in 1 months worth (no refill) and i would have to pay next time before I see him. Sounds great! Next she asked me if I used a certain Walgreens. I advised that the location she asked about was not my preferred location and gave her the information to my preferred pharmacy. Then the new laws mentioned above come in to play. I presumed that he would have to write the script and I would have to go pick it up however, that's not the case here. They typed up the script, the doctor signed it, and then they faxed it to the appropriate pharmacy. So about an hour or so I go in to the pharmacy and pick up my script and left without any incident. A little while later i get a text that i normally get from Walgreens alerting that my prescription is ready for pick up. This has happened before where I get the text somewhat later after I have already gotten my prescription. I didn't think anything about it. Except this time was different. I got 2 texts and when they send the texts they state that if you have any questions please call the pharmacy along with their phone number. Each text I received had different phone numbers. One number from the pharmacy I went to and the other number was from the location that my doctor's nurse had on her file. I didn't want to press my luck and thought it was too good to be true. So 2 days go by and randomly I get a missed phone call from one of the pharmacy locations. It was the location that I did not use and the location that my doctor's nurse had on file. So my inquiring mind couldn't resist and I had to call back to see what was going on. A guy answers and I tell him I just had a missed call. I give him my info and he says he doesn't know why they called but I have a prescription ready for pick up! Since I don't have insurance I have to pay cash price for every prescription. I asked how much was the prescription and he said the magic number! Laaawd have mercy! Could it be true!?!? Can this really be happening!?!? Noooo. There's no way. So I tell my girlfriend and rush her into the car and speed to the pharmacy. We go through the drive-thru..... low and behold.....

IT HAPPENED!!!

I drive off with another 120 tabs!!! Score!!! How often does this happen!? Never! I got so lucky! And this from a large chain pharmacy and with our new laws and just picking up the first script 2 days ago!!! I thought it wouldn't happen! I felt like I stuck it to the man! Like the good guys won! Shew!!

I just thought i would share my story. I was super excited when this happened and I wanted to share my story with anyone who needs hope to move forward. It can happen and I never thought something like this would ever happen with todays rules and regulations. Thanks for reading and good luck with all your endeavors!

Methadone is the most effective pain med ever!!! You are so right! Ive been in misery for 13 years taking Peciset 10 mg, and Soma etc. by 5 yrs. later moved to 15 mg. Oxycodone because after years your body gets used to them and the Tylenol prices were crszy then, so a few more years go by, now at 30 mgs. i never wanted to take pills ever before, not even Advil but when in pain and vomiting from it you will try something sooner or later! Any who....new doctor at my doctors office asked me if i tried Methadone? and i thought just like everybody else.....THATS FOR ADDICTS TO GET OFF H!!! NOT TRUE.....I take less 30's and 4 Methadone, and basically no pain, not loopy or tired from them and have my life back! Except im paying an arm and a leg!!!! Thanks WALGREENS! You suck! Anyway thats my 2 cents worth.

Yeah, I've tried all the methods you listed plus traction, Cortisone INJ's, surgery etc. Nothing works as well as Oxycodone. I am now at the point that I've lost my good credit, about to lose my home and auto but the next time I can't make it to work because of the pain, I'll just take a hot shower.

You might try Walgreens in Brandon. The one at the corner of Bloomingdale and Bell Shoals. I take baby doses, 5mg IR Oxy, but they've never turned me away. Sometimes they do check with the Dr. Which delays getting it filled. They treat me like a human. Been doing this for 2 years. I am a regular customer. Been going there since they opened. Bills Pharmacy on Highway 60 sometimes will fill them, but one of the pharmacists told me they get in just enough every month for their regular clientele. Whatever you do, DO NOT go to Walgreens on Highway 60 and Parsons. They are the rudest most inconsiderate people, ever. They're right across from Bills Pharmacy, and a clerk told me they get a lot of customers in there because of the rudeness of people in that Walgreens.

To "Very Lucky", You said that your Doctor faxed your script to the pharmacy. It is against the law to fill a script for any narcotics by fax. Evan an E-Script. All pharmacists know this. My cough medicine with codeine has to be an original copy. I am in this wonderful situation as every one else here. I agree with the people who have been prescribed Methadone as it is the most effective baseline medication that I have ever taken. Too bad that my longtime Dr. Retired about 8 months ago as the Dr. that bought the practice will not prescribe it. He has me on MS Contin and it is not working at all. Oxy as my breakthrough is good a majority of the time but it does not work for very long.

Someone told me this years ago, and am really glad they did. Break up you giant one paragraph(click Enter bar twice) It makes it sooooooo MUCH easier to read and looks better also.

Just try it, and you will never "look" back. Your post was very informative, but quite difficult to read, even with glasses. I am not trying to be judgmental or rude, just helpful.
Best Regards
