I would check his dosage. My DR recommends 20mg . I use 30mg now but would be fine with the 20mg. It does not make me aggressive and seriously helps a lot with my ADD. But if it makes your husband so aggressive that it interferes with family I would talk to your DR about it. Perhaps another prescription would work. Also, there are a lot of therapies and other methods to treat ADD. I hopefully will be able to explore them so I could stop taking a pill everyday.

Hi, my husband started to use Vyvanse one year ago and he became another person ... really agressive and totally negative. It so hard on our couple that I cannot bear him and with children it comes to a point that no one in the house could say anything at all. I still love him and I want him back so deseperately ... he was so lovely, charming and funny before now it's always like a war to finish with me and kids.

katt7369: Definitely take your child off the Vyvanse as soon as you can, and try another medication. There are at least fourteen different meds out there; with any luck you'll find the one that works for your child sooner rather than later. If that med doesn't work, then try another... and another.. and another. Keep the faith! It will work out for you :-)

Glad to hear that this med is doing the job for you Barry. That's great news! That being said, there are abut 14 different meds out there to treat ADHD, and each of those drugs will work differently on each person. What works for one person will not work for another, and so on.

As I previously posted, I also have ADHD. When I was trying out the various medications to see what was right for me, I tried using Concerta. My experience with Concerta was a most unpleasant one. Within two days of starting this medication, I was extremely hostile, aggressive, and just plain mean. My heart pounded and it gave me the shakes. I wanted to beat the crap out of anybody that looked at me. I tried it for a week and these symptoms didn't go away, so I stopped using the Concerta. It took less than 24 hours to revert back to my 'sunny disposition' once I stopped the Concerta.

I have a friend whose son takes Concerta and she thinks it's a wonder drug and is doing miracles. This is stated purely to validate my point that every person with ADHD will react differently to different medications.

All I can say is that ever since we took my son off the Vyvanse, the anger, hostility, violence, bad attitude, and rudeness disappeared within 48 hours.

He's now taking Dexedrine spansules 3 x 15 mg/day (two in the morning and one at lunchtime). Yes, we've still had the odd "bad day" but those happen once or twice a month now as opposed to two or three times a week. I can live with that.

My son is 14 and he is vyvanse ,his attitude has change a great deal and I dont know what is wrong with him he is angry all the time and he is still getting in trouble in school. He is mean to his brothers and always is irritable you cant ask him anything without him getting upset. I dont know if I need to change medicine. He has been on concerta before, but the medication was not working I want to take him off but he needs to be on something cause he is off task in school and constantly is up and down out of his seat where is he is making it hard for the teacher to teach

you wont find much, my mom and i have been through all kinds of meds but theyre all the same or they dont work, but you should still try. I was taking vyvanse from 6th to 8th grade and something else before that since 4th grade but stopped altogether after 8th and I'm 16 now in 11th grade and since 4th i have had eye ticks, nose ticks, im constantly rubbing my thumb and middle finger against each other and "think out loud" and i have shown signs of a mild ocd . the side effects stick around long after you stop taking the medication. its basically pumping narcotics into a developing brain everyday for years until its fried.
the doctors dont tell you that.

This thread is very interesting. I have noticed that a lot of people who take Vyvanse can become angry. I even read one posting where a ladies son got tourettes. I know a lot of people have negative side affects from this stuff, and that's why the forums are available so that we can lash out. However, I am one who can say that this pill has only brought positive affects for my life.
I now have a lot more energy for starters. It used to be on my day off from work I would just lay in bed all day, but now I clean the whole house and get everything else I need to done. Secondly, I pay way more attention to details and plan out my tasks. For example, folding clothes and putting them away for me used to be a nightmare, but now its a snap to the point where I enjoy it. I also notice at work where I am customer service agent my vocabulary is much wider than ever. I tend to use bigger words that I hardly ever use. So, overall this pill has been nice. I would say that I do experience over tiredness from not eating, but when I do eat I feel the affects again shortly after. For everyone that has had bad experiences I am sorry to hear. But, I can't say the same for in my circumstances. I do agree with one of the other postings that it shouldn't be given to kids. I am sort of baffled that it makes kids angry though, only because it makes me very happy, self confident, and motivated. I also typically do not sweat the small stuff either as I normally would.

I stopped taking my ADHD medicine and it help a little with my feet pain. I still need the therapy and parafin and other treatments. But still on the cymbalta. I aslo notice that I have been skin picking. I wonder if that has to do with cymbalta.

My 10 year old son is taking Vyvanse and has been on it for nearly 2 years. At first we saw some inprovement in his attitude, ability to focus and his behavior. Now he is becoming a little monster. Always angry, disrespectful, negative thinking, and a host of other bad traits. I stumbled upon this site trying to see if there is a connection between Vyvanse and the aggression we are seeing in our son. From reading the posted messages, I'd say yes, there is a connection especially in younger children. About to call the doc and schedule an appt and look into an alternative medication. Thanks for sharing your information.

I had to get off of vyvanse for now. I want to see if there is an improvement at all. My feet are still killing me to the point I am mad at the world. It is horrible.
So far without the vyvanse I feel like I don't need it to continue life. I already have pain and I hate the idea of all the side affects that all the drugs have. I will look into natural remedies

Update on my son: on May 21st, 2012 we took him off the Vyvanse. He was out here for the Long Weekend and I didn't have any of his meds, so I gave him some of my Dexedrine. The results were miraculous. My son went from demon to angel in less than 48 hours and we haven't had ANY problems with him since then. The Dexedrine keeps him focused and on task and he still eats pretty decently ( a couple of weekends ago he 'inhaled' TWO double cheeseburgers in ten minutes ). Since we took him off the Vyvanse, his aggression has gone, he's doing his homework and chores without a battle, is helpful, polite, and is a great kid. He is now taking Dexedrine 2 x 15mg/day and so far it's been smooth sailing all the way. I have my wonderful son back and I'm so happy about it!

If YOU'RE getting high on this stuff, then YOU'RE taking way, way too much of it! Get your facts straight and then come back with some serious discussion.

Listen guys I'm 25 have taken vyvanse for a week and I'm going off it already. You know why you people think it works? Because your high! This drug is an amphetamine! It's banned in all major sports and you fail a drug test when on it because it's a hardcore intense high. ANYONE when high on amphetamines is going to feel motivated, happy, organized etc because your on a drug. Vyvanse is not like an anti depressant. Any drug with serious abuse value like this should not be prescribed to anyone (unless its painkillers for surgery) let alone kids. This drug is not a miracle it's just baby meth. The withdrawals are rebound depression from what it does to our brains. As good as it feels I'm done with this stuff

Im relieved to read these posts. My fiance has been taking ADHD meds since he was a kid but now he takes Vyvance. He is normally a very loving and affectionate man but every month when he gets his meds he completely changes. He becomes quiet, serious, wants to clean and organize the whole house or other "projects", he loses his appetite, becomes very violent and aggressive, lies, and is very irritable when he first wakes up. I started noticing the pattern and found out he was taking a months supply in two weeks. When I started telling him that I didn't like the way they made him act he began hiding them so I wouldn't know how many he was taking. It was like dealing with someone on drugs. I recognized the signs because Im a recovered addict that has been clean 3 years. When we first met I let him convince me to try one because I didnt have my meds with me. It felt like I had relapsed. I felt like I had taken meth. I needed a drink to calm my nerves, and felt like I needed a cigarette and I don't usually smoke. When my fiance takes these pills he drinks and smokes
Cigarettes. He gets angry when I tell him the pills make him violent and distant. Usually he jokes and laughs and acts goofy. But when he is high on these pills its like another person. Im scared for our relationship because I love him but I can see addict behavior and he doesn't think they're a problem because they're prescribed and he says he needs them to focus and get things done. I don't know what to do.

My 12 yo son started taking Vyvanse about a year ago. His ADHD is severe and the Adderall he was taking killed his appetite so badly that he became life-threatening thin. The Vyvanse has brought back his appetite and he is back into the ' normal' range. However- my intelligent, funny, sensitive, loving, and gentle son has turned into a person I don't want to know. He is extremely hostile and negative, and hates 'everything'. He lies like a cheap carpet and he is stealing. He's been suspended from school for more than thirty days so far this year (he's in Grade 7) His ODD has gotten much worse and absolutely everything is an argument now. He's started skipping school and/or running away from it, he's getting into fights. I never had these problems when he was taking Adderall, and I believe it's the Vyvanse that has turned my wonderful son into a monster.
As an aside, I also have severe ADHD and I am taking dexedrine, without any of those side effects. That being said, at the beginning when we were trying to figure out which drug was for me, I tried Concerta. Within 24 hours of starting the Concerta my heart was pounding and I had the shakes. Within 48 hours I became the nastiest, most hostile, aggressive, rude woman on the planet. I wanted to kill anybody that so much as looked at me. I've told you this because I know from experience that some ADHD drugs do cause aggression. This is why I'm so sure that the Vyvanse is having the same effect on my son. Cheers.

I am the one who stopped taking the vyvance because my feet are killing me all the time and the lower back also. Update 3-21-12. I have no longer scabs in my head from picking. But then I got a cream for it and some hydrocortizone pills so I won't itch. I did go from
125 pounds to 140 pound and I am 5 feet 2 inches. And since I can't do anything with my feet I have to join the gym after my cruise this week and do everything else like swim and recumbent bike and other things to keep me down. I am in a better mood and getting an appitite for sex. LOL
