Veltam For Females

I am a 23 year old female. I had a kleb. Pneumoniae UTI. The doctor gave md injectables initially, and then for prophylaxis, he has put me on veltam and niftas for 3 months. I understand why I have been given niftas, but I don't understand the reason behind prescribing veltam. As far as I know, veltam is not for females.

Here you are given veltam 0.4 as this will dialete the bladder neck and will decrease the post void residual volume of urine in bladder.
