Valsart Hctz Availability

I took Diovan brand 320-12.5mg for a very long time. The generic became available. I have a history of reacting to drugs and wanted to stay with the Sandoz which I've been told is a generic to Diovan and Sandoz company is the generic company of Novartis who originally made Diovan brand. By hopping from one drug store to another I found Valsartan Hydrochlorathiazide tablets 320-12.5 mg marked identical to the brand drug with the HIL and NVR on the pink oval pill. I paid generic price. Soon pharmacy ran out and told me they would not be getting anymore Sandoz Valsartan HCTZ 320-12.5mg. I was told to go to other pharmacies and maybe they would have some on their shelf. I did, I even went out of state and was able to buy 90 days but was told that's it, no more will be available. They have another brand with APO on the pill or I can get a Mylan? I think was another brand at another pharmacy. I kept searching and found a pharmacy that had some Sandoz Valsart Hctz 320-12.5mg on the shelf. I could only buy 30 days at a time per my insurance. I did. Then I noticed it is called VALSART not VALSARTAN. Any difference?

Same pink pill, same markings NVR AND HIL. When I called company they tell me they sell to distributors and do not know where distributors go with the medication. Believe me I did the best investigative work ever and no one in my area can tell me where the Distributors (whoever they are?) who got the Sandoz Valsartan Hctz 320-12.5mg went to deliver their Sandoz pills. One pharmacist told me he has a list of Distributors in this area and Sandoz medication is not on the list on the pharmacy computer which tells him the contract between the chain drug store and the Sandoz company was not renewed. So I talk to the manufacturer and say, "Are you still making Sandoz valsartzn hctz 320-12.5mg? Yes was the answer. We just do not know where the distributors go with the pills. Obviously not in my area because this senior citizen has gone to a lot of pharmacies. Can you special order? No was the answer because Sandoz isn't listed at the pharmacies. Other brands of course are available. My reactions at times are from fillers therefore I try to not change over to another brand. My medical insurance refuses to cover the brand for me. So I can pay out of pocket $535 for 90 days or keep hunting around hoping to find a drug store with Sandoz brand Valsartan 320-12.5mg. TWO QUESTIONS: IS VALSART VALSARTAN? ANY CLUE ON HOW I CAN OBTAIN SANDOZ VALSARTAN HCTZ 320-12.5 MG? THANK YOU.

Hello, Buttos! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.

Regarding your first question, yes, they are the same, one has just been abbreviated.

As to your second question, unfortunately, there is database that shows what pharmacy carries the medication from any given manufacturer. I wish there were, since it would certainly help people like you, but at this time, there isn't one.

Have you tried any from the other manufacturers?

What types of issues do you have with the fillers?

This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension and frequent urination.

Another alternative might be to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication.
