Use Of Omeprazole With Nitrofuran Monohyd Macro 100 Mg

Is taking Omeprazole contraindicated while taking nitrofuran monohyd macro 100 mg? One of the warnings in the information sheet provided for the medication is to "not use magnesium trisilicate-containing antacids while taking this medication."

Hi Diane,

Based on my research there actually aren't any drug interactions listed between those two medications 'in and of themselves'. However, if Omeprazole tablets do contain "magnesium trisilicate" as an inactive ingredient (which I've read that it does from several searches), then it would probably be best to play it safe and adhere to those packaging guidelines; unless of course your doctor instructs you to do otherwise for one reason or another.
