What does "across a lifespan" mean? My pharmacology book asks this about several drug? It's not asking for half-life.

Usually, that refers to exactly what it sounds like, the use of any given medication across someone's life span. This can be an important factor to take under consideration, because many medications are metabolized differently by people of different ages.
Some are absorbed much more readily in children and the elderly, so if possible, it can be best to avoid using those medications in anyone under 12 and over 65, because they may experience more severe side effects and complications from them.
Gender is also another factor that has to be taken under consideration, when it comes to some medications.
