Unusual Odor

My jar of pills has an strong odor that smells as if fumes of what smells like a herbicide and it seems to be more so as the days go by. The pills have a volitile like oder.
What could this be?

What type of pills are they?

There are some medications that do have an unusual odor, that may get stronger as they age and some that should fade.

However, I can't really tell you anything without knowing more about them.
