i have found a yellow pill with a large V and a small d inside of the v on one side and the number 121 on the other.

This is a fairly confusing pill indeed. The imprint is actually AP 121 (appears as a lowercase P inside the upside down V, or a V with a small D in it). The AP stands for Advance Pharmaceutical.

Anyways, this is an 81 mg Aspirin.
