The medical name for what is refered to as Truth Serum is called Sodium Pentothal.

But it is a common misperception that Sodium Pentothal will actually make somebody tell the truth against their will. Rather it acts more as a general anesthesia by depressing the central nervous system. So while it could lower somebody's inhibitions (like when you go to a bar a have a few drinks), it cannot actually make somebody tell the truth against their will.
