Trimethoprin -sulfa

I have a chronic kidney disease and my doctor prescibe this medicine ( trimethoprin-sulfamethoxazole at 850/160mg. My creatine went from 2.0 to 2.7 within days of taking the meds. Should I have been given a lower dosage according to my kidney function.

Actually, other antibiotics should be prescribed first, before this one, because it can cause some kidney issues, as well as dehydration.

What as it prescribed for? Did you try any other antibiotics?
