This antibiotic doesn't become toxic, once it expires, but it does start to lose efficacy, so it may not work as well as it did, when new, which creates the danger of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Thus, it would be best to dispose of it and see your doctor, if you feel you have an infection and need an antibiotic.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
