Tri Sprintec Birth Control For Heavy Period

I am 37 yrs old my doctor prescribed sprentec to help with my heavy periods due to endometriosis. How long should it take before I see results? I have been on my period for 5 days and it has not showed any signs of slowing?

Hi, Misty! How long have you been taking the Tri Sprintec?

If you just started it a few days ago, when you started your period, then it's far too soon for it to have an effect. You most likely won't see any changed until your next period.

Usually, heavy periods are caused by a deficiency in Progesterone and that is very common with endometriosis, your age can also play a role, since anovulatory cycles usually start around age 35. Since this contraceptive contains both a form of estrogen and progesterone, it may help with your heavy bleeding.

Hello I went to the doctor on Tuesday November 5, 2013. My doctor gave new Spintec 28 days birth control pill but she told me start taking birth pill Tuesday night the blue pill only.
