I took 50mg of tramadol 15 hours ago, is it safe to take zzzquil to help me sleep? I dont take the tramadol all too often, only on days when my back pain is really severe and I only take zzzquil when I just can't get to sleep. I know they have moderate interactions when taken together but I'm wondering if this is far enough apart to avoid adverse effects.

Hello Al,
According to the FDA tramadol has a half life of 6 hours, generally it takes between 4 and 6 half lifes to be completely out of your system. Since you are only at the 15 hour mark you would only be at two half life cycles which would be unsafe to take with the zzzquil. Doing some simple math it would be safe to take zzzquil approximately 24 to 36 hours after you had administered the tramadol.
Hope this info helps and you can get some sleep without the zzzquil.
