Sorry to hear about the extent of your pain. However, it's important to know that what works for someone else may not necessarily work the same for you.
While tramadol is often touted as a much weaker pain medication than your typical narcotic, (i.e percocet), I'm sure it also depends on several underlying factors (such as one's tolerance to pain meds, severity of pain, etc...)
I would probably place my bet on the percocet being stronger though. But it sounds like you should definitely discuss this with your doctor if you've been contemplating this for a while. Stronger doesn't always mean better...at least when it comes to tapering off.
