To be honest I actually haven't heard of any type of laxative than can be inhaled or rubbed on through cream. Are these actually real or were you just speaking theoretically? If you're not one to swallow pills, powder laxatives may be the most convenient form to use that I know of, because you can simply stir it into a glass of water or raw juice.
Something else to consider is that many types of fruit, such as apple juice also contain a strong laxative effect. However to battle chronic constipation, I'd even suggest combining it with prune juice.
