I realize its been awhile since this thread was written, but I've seen this "fact" in other forums as well, and feel compelled to respond. Tincture of Opium is still prescribed and is still available. I just filled a new prescription yesterday at the Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN, prescribed by a gastroenterologist there.
Hello, Katie! How are you?
I'm sorry, but this is no longer available. Opium as a medication was actually never approved by the FDA and has been removed from the market.
Have you consulted your doctor to see what other alternatives you can try?
