Thanks for the tip sergo. Actually I was calling my CVS store today and they don't even carry potassium iodide. They said that it's not generally available in our area, and the one place that does carry it requires a prescription. Who's going to get a prescription for this stuff in case of emergencies anyways!?!? The radioactive particles are supposed to reach the west coast of the U.S. by tomorrow (Friday 3/18). Geez. From what I have seen on the news, however, there is supposedly little threat because of how diluted any radioactive plumes have become while traveling over the pacific ocean. Not sure what to believe. Since I've been unable to get any potassium iodide for myself, my wife and I identified that low fat yogurt is a great source of iodine (87 mcg per cup) which is higher than other food sources with the exception of kelp and certain kinds of fish. We do have a lot of yogurt on hand and will just consume several cups of it tomorrow if need be. Pray for the people of Japan!

Yes, kelp is a good source. I got thyrosafe just in case, but you can;t live on it 24/7/365.
