Tetracycline is an antibiotic and when used for acne, it is normally taken in the 500mg dose, twice a day, until an improvement in the acne lesions is seen, then it may be discontinued or reduced to a 250mg dosage.

Sid effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, skin rash and diarrhea.
