Terbinafine While Breastfeeding
UpdatedHi. I was prescribed terbinafine for 14 days and I am currently breastfeeding my 5-month-old. I just want to know if it is safe to take this medication while breastfeeding?

According to the FDA, Terbinafine passes into your breast milk and may harm your baby. They go on to state that you should not breastfeed while taking Terbinafine tablets.

I would encourage you to talk with your doctor about other alternatives to Terbinafine that are safe to take while breastfeeding or discuss the best way to feed your baby while taking these tablets - if it can be done in a safe manner by altering the dosage, timing and/or frequency of administration to lessen these risk factors.
Hope this helps!
