Tennessee Pain Management New Laws July 2013 (Page 2)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

People in Tennessee who are in pain management or are being prescribed pain meds are no aware of all the new laws that went into effect July, 1. 2013. I have been with the same Dr. for nearly three years, he told me last month about these changes and that I would have to see him at his new pain clinic for the month of July. Before I could see him I had to go through all the red tape,. everyone at the pain clinic was aware of me coming in, they all knew me by name even though it was my first visit. I had to talk to a law enforcement official who finger printed me, took my picture, did a background check and preformed a drug test, checked me for needle marks, etc. all this before I could see my Dr. Oh yeah, and I had to pay up too. Once I got to see my doctor we talked about all these changes made by the legislators in Nashville. After Oct. 1 and then Jan 1 of 2014 they are wanted pain patients to try a holistic or non narcotic route before they get any narcotics, of course the people making these rules and new laws are affiliated with these alternative procedures so they can make their money. If anyone in the great state of Tennessee is experiencing these hassles and are getting tired of being treated like a criminal just to see your doctor please contact me, we can change this but we have to go through Nashville. I have four legislators who are on the side of the people in pain. We are starting a pain advocacy group to bring to Nashville but we need more people, there is power in numbers so I need to hear from everyone. I will be posting on here soon with a page you can go to so you can tell your story and get these ridiculous laws changed.

Different strokes for different folks. Sorry but so etimes just swallowing a pill doesnt work for so e folks. Especially if we also have digestive or colon issues that jist eliminate the medicine whole without being absorbed. Orrrrrr, like the tamper proff oxycontin- it caused horrible runs and diarrhea and I found that letting it absorb under my tongue works wonders. It takes 2-3 hours so its still a slow trickle into the system without any bowel umm, 'irregularities' . Unfortunately it didnt show in my urine so of course I got kicked out of pain management. Also any doc prescribing more than 4 30mg oxycodone gets a red flag and after 4 years of same dose it no longer worked. My doctor understood i needed 6 but he was afraid to prescribe it. We had an understanding that he would give me 4, i would take 6 and he prescribed me so ethi g for the wothdrawal EVERY MONTH. UNTIL I was switched to the extended relase OP which I placed under my tongue. He started me on 15mg which threw me into preciptated withdrawal so the following month the nurse raised it and i week later after THEY RAISED IT, i received the discharged letter for overuse of meds. Then why did they raise it and kock me out?

Anton, The processes you went through, are to show the heads to be, that our patients are legitimate. It also allows us to catch people diverting medication, which is the real reason you have to go through these processes. The goal was to get the software out to the pharmacies so they can verify that someone is one of our patients, and have been checked for legitimacy. In the end, we only wind up with legit patients in our system, and have a way of tracking the criminals ( that we have identified as criminals ), from the doctors office to the pharmacy. This will not stop it all together, but it will make a dent if everyone gets on-board. I would tell anyone here to come and see us, but that would violate the rules of this site. {edited for privacy}

"........I HOPE ITS NEVER YOUR MOM, DAD, GRANDMOTHER OR GRANDFATHER IN THIS SAME SITUATION. OR EVEN YOU.....MAYBE THEN YOU WILL UNDERSTAND"

No you really do HOPE their love one can not get prescription pain medicine, or better yet, HOPE our democratic / in name only Republican Governor Mr Haslam get injured or sick and in a great deal of pain and can't get it. After all what we the people need to do most in this time is force all politicians to ad hear to the same laws and same health care we the people are being forced to follow. We need to force congress to have to take Obamacare and our Governor to have the same health care we are being forced to take.
We need to vote out of office all these lifers and those that claim they are conservative to get into office, when all their laws and votes show they are liberal to only one term. LETS GET WE THE PEOPLE BACK. And vote these people out of office.

Please update your post as to if you were successful in getting a group together to try and change this ridiculous legislation, and do you still need more supporters?

I too have been thrown away by Covenant Pain Management. Its odd that my last visit was in July, after that I was put out to dry after almost 10 years with the same Dr. This is one PAIN in the ass. I have back problems, surgery in 1996. Then an auto accident in 2000 that left me with a metal rod in my femur, metal in my left arm, arthritis in knee, hip hand ect. Nobody gives a damn about the individual, just let the insurance companies and Government make the medical decisions. They have done such a great job running the country and the new National Healthcare program, I am sure they are qualified to make these medical decisions, like I am qualified to fly a fighter jet. Sign me up. Lets get these crooks out of office and let Doctors do the medical decisions.

Please tell me where to sign up, I know several people including myself that are all legitimate pain patients who are suffering tremendously due to these changes.

Legitimate pain sufferers are all treated as junkies. Impossible to find a practice that doesn't think anyone needing medication is terrible. I know if I could function normally with nothing I wouldn't be filtering all the synthetic junk through my liver. However it is a necessary evil with cervical and lumbar problems. If there is such doctor that will treat you as a human being when you can pass a drug test and do a count anytime don't abuse drugs drink or smoke please let me know of such a doctor in Southern Middle Tennessee/Tullaoma/Murfreesboro/Manchester area I'd be very grateful to know their information.
