Friend gives 2 pills got 50 deep etched into one side and nothing on the other. I was told its a sleeping pill. It has a strange odour can't describe it. Probably 5 mm give or take. Looked all over with no answer.

Turns out that is a prescription called Amitriptyline, brand Elavil.
It's a tricyclic antidepressant. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced.
Amitriptyline is used to treat symptoms of depression.
