Taking Levothyroxine Every Other Day

I have been on levothyroxine for 15 years. I skipped a day and felt much better. Can i start taking it every other day? I am on 75mg.

When is the last time your levels were checked?

Depending on their levels, some people do skip days of this medication, or alternate doses to maintain the ideal levels, however, you should check with your doctor, before doing so.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and hair loss.

Hi thank you for replying. I have had my levels checked Jan 2016. I get them checked every year. It just seems like when I skip a day and do every other day i feel so much better... I called my Dr. and he said as long as my levels stay good i can do that. So now I need to make a appt in a few weeks. thanks again.

I too have been dealing with hair loss. Large patches of baldness with no signs of regrowth. It is because of this and feeling so lousy
that I have been taking my meds every other day. No signs of any improvement, but symptons have not gotten worse and I have
been taking it every other day now for almost 2 months. Soon I will be retested and I am anxious to get the results of 80 mg taken
half as often as prescribed
