Taking Hydrocodone Before A Surgery

I'm having Jones fracture surgery in the morning and would like to know if I can take a hydrocodone today for pain?

Hi Jodi,

Generally, it's best to consult with the surgeon concerning pre/post op preparation and instructions. If the hydrocodone is taken too close to the operation, I think it's very important to let the anesthesiologist know before hand so that they can make any necessary dosage adjustments to whatever they administer. If you don't communicate with the surgeon or anesthesiologist then it could create a potentially dangerous drug interaction or overdose.
