My Dr put me on 30 mg of ms contin for chronic pain after a spinal fusion. There was damage to my sciatic nerve so the surgery didn't help and the nerve pain was still in my right leg even 3 years after the surgery, I have been on clonazepam for 4 years for R LS and dyskinesia for 4 years.Recently I took the prescribed amount of ms contin and the clonazepam and i ended up in the ER for an overdose, Is this common with these 2 drugs?

My wife has had polio, scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and Reynolds syndrome... she takes morphine and Percocet together... lately, she's been taking clonazepam to help her sleep... That combo sometimes knocks her out... like OD... I've taken her to the hospital 4 times in the lasts 4 months... She's wiped out again, and I'm searching on this site to look for interactions... she takes 30mg Morphine... 10-325 oxy and 1mg clonozepam... I say do NOT take clonazepam with oxy & morph...

They can be taken together, but the dosage is what is of relevant importance, certain people might be more sensitive to this combination than others. What causes an overdose in one person might not be an issue for someone else that is more tolerant, or who has been taking them longer.

The FDA does warn that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and irritability.

Jeffrey, how is she doing? I mean to a point, it is expected that this combination would knock her out, since they want to help her sleep. Has her doctor been informed of the problem? What did the ER say about the issue?

I'm not sure what date I wrote to you folks... but my wife passed 19 Apri 3:06AM... I was really pissed b/c Haven Hospice was giving her Dilaudid (I demanded them to stop giving her that super strong drug) and I know when I left the night before (Apr 18th) they gave it to her again. She was only in Hospice till I could get a hospital bed in our home... which was scheduled for 19 April. The death certificate listed COPD as cause of Death. At least my wife is with Jesus in Heaven and no longer suffering... 2 Cor 5:1-10.
