Taking Xarelto And Left Arm Pain

Hello all..Sept 29,2014 I was put in the hospital for having 2 massive clots in my lungs. I was put on the small dose of Xarelto for 21 days taking them twice a day. Now I just started 2 days ago taking 20mg 1 time a day. I havent had any issues except for a pain that is in my left arm. What makes me a little worried is when I went into the hospital it was cause I was short of breath and a pain in my left arm.. So should I be worried or is it just a side effect?

Hi Kendra, Sorry to hear about your troubles with those symptoms. Based on my research, "difficulty with breathing or swallowing" as well as "pain in the arm or leg" are both listed as possible side effects from taking Xarelto. Although arm pain itself is reportedly a less common side effect, difficulty breathing is considered to be more common according to the link below.

If the side effects persist or become too bothersome, I would just encourage you to contact your doctor as soon as possible to see what he/she recommends moving forward.

how is your left arm pain? Did it go away? i have same thing. went in with PE and came out with arm pain. i didnt notice it in beginning, but now it is one month And still have left arm pain. i was told nerve damage from PE.

My arm still hurts. I went to the doctors and had an doppler ultra sound done on my arm. Just waiting to get the results on it now and then we will go from there.. on top of my left arm hurting. My pointer finger on same hand swells up and it is in alot of pain also. .

I'm having the same problem with my left arm too. Very sore and muscle spasms. Went back to the ER and they did an ultra sound to check for more clots. None found. But my arms is hurting so bad and cant left anything. This started the day I switched to 20 mg too. Any suggestions on what I can do without taking Cumidin.

No sweet heart. I have been on this since October and they arent believing it is from the meds. Well they dont want to believe. . So now I'm going back for xrays on the arm.. I was told once your on Xarelto they cant just take you off and put you on something different. And I'm stuck on it forever not just a short time... hopefully you will get more answers than me cause I haven't got anywhere.. I cant use my arm. I need help buttoning my under cloths. Cant sleep on that side. Its starting to really suck...
