There shouldn't be any withdrawals, if you are given the correct dose of Methadone to start.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Have you made the switch, yet?
It's worked well for some people and not for others, so much of it depends on you.
Does anyone have experience with this switch?
methadone is the hardest thing to withdrawl from because it takes one to three months i wanted to die but that depends on how much your on i was on 60 mill meth for three years and quit cold turkey methadone made me sleepy but gave me a nice boost i know its a paradime haha but they both helped im actually going for suboxen treatment tomorrow because i started taking it because the methadone withdrawl lasted so long and i couldnt work but since i find it off the street i pay 45$ a week and i cant always find it im afraid to withdrawl off suboxone because i remember the meth withdrawl but whatever you do wean and taper little by little when your ready and youll be ok methadone is alot like suboxone but is a full mu agonist when suboxone is partial agonist so its stronger hope that helped
I was on methadone for four years when I decided it would be cheaper (because insurance paid for my meds) for me to switch to suboxone. I've been on suboxone for about 5 years and am relapsing every month so I've made the decision to switch back, does anyone know what kind of dose is a maintenance dose of methadone after this many years of sub treatment?
Did you ever find out anything I'm going through the same thing?
Some people are so damn stupid ..don't get yourself into any mess unless you know the pros and cons of all of it ..I've been on both for long periods cause I'm the above ..both have ups and downs or pros and cons ..subs are stupid expensive 250 plusa month .dones are like 10 a month ..dones give better relif initially then your used to it and poof ..doesn't work the same ..my advice is run as fast as you can away from all this ..or just be smart and deal with side effects of pharmaceuticals. Much love to all .
I took one 8mg suboxone yesterday and am wondering how long i have to wait to get the full therapeutic effects of my methadone?
You will be fine..going from suboxone to methadone is OK . its when u go from methadone to suboxone is when u have to be careful and wait awhile cause methadone stores in your system and take a suboxone after methadone is asking for trouble u would sicker then a dog..but since ur doing the opposite u will be fine.
I want to know if it's safe to take 10 milligrams of methadone after taking two suboxones this morning at 5 am?
From my experience long term MMT patients do not do well switching to suboxone. I have even talked to the manufacturers who have stated that this is a common complaint from MMT patients. I suggest any one who is returning to using because of switching should return to methadone. They are all addictive and the only way to prevent withdraw is a very slow detox. Everyone saying that methadone is so bad has a different experience than what I and many of my friends have had. Methadone saved my life. Gave me the ability to function and raise 6 children while being single. I would have never been able to do it on my own. I praise what methadone has done for me. The downfalls are its hard to find available treatment and it requires a daily trip to the clinic to get daily dosing. Once clean you can get take homes and only go 1 or twice a month.
Switching from subs to methadone u shouldnt have any issues..its the switch from methadone to subs that causes precipitated withdraw. I kno sounds weird but ive switched both ways and for sure u want all methadone out before taking subs...but the other way u shouldnt have any issues..
Ive personally done this and goin from subs to methadone there wont b a problem. Its goin from methadone to subs is what causes precipitated withdraw. I also wasnt hesitant and was told same thing i told u but was still reluctant but no withdraw at all. Ull b fine.
Corey,
Idk where you get your info but your about 90% incorrect. First of all methadone withdrawal is any where from 3 weeks up to 3 months depending on the dose. I myself have been in methadone treatment for a little over a year. I take 180mg a day and im going to be starting my detox in june witch is going to take about a year to completely detox because the clinic i go to will only detox you 2mg a week. And as far as suboxone goes the withdrawal is almost the same, subs are basically what they call a medical pig. It completely takes over the opioid receptors and it dont matter how much you take or when you take it, the withdraw is unreal, its horrible. i know from experience. so if anyone is wanting to go from subs to methadone or vice versa, just be real careful, especially if u were taking methadone first. and methadone is 100 times more cheeper it just take awhile to get off of if its done correctly and under doc care. so anyone saying subs are cheaper. they are either stoned or stupid. I've been in this game way too long. not trying to sound like im proud of my past but methadone saved my life. And tons of money. And for the ones who are afraid to try methadone and want to take subs, you better make sure u have a job and about 600 bucks a month depending on your dose..either way the withdrawals are almost the same. the only diff is the price and they way its dispensed.
I've been taking methadone for awhile. Had to switch to suboxone for a few days. The withdrawal was awful. Now I have my methadone back but took 8 mgs of suboxone last night. When can I take my methadone again?
I couldn’t take Methadone! It made me feel like crap. My daughter said I looked awful. But I think it’s like any other narcotic, there are side effects with all. And ALL are HELL to come off of.
Re: Kimy (# 13)
U can take ur methadone anytime...its when u already got mdone in ur system and u start taking subs. I kno its crazy but one way will work...one way will start precipitated withdraw.
I am out of suboxone and it's been 24 hours since my last dose. I have 30 mg of methadone. Can I take that and go back on my suboxone the next day?
