Sulfur Bar Soap And Sulfa Allergy

It doesn't bother my skin except it's causing a drying feeling; but if I'm not allergic to that and I'm allergic to sulfa related drugs would it be safe to use this soap anyways? I have a minor skin infection on my face. Can someone please help?

They are different substances, sulfur is present in eggs, some soaps, and various other substances naturally. However, sulpha/sulfa is a different chemical, so being allergic to one does not necessarily equate being allergic to the other. It doesn't rule out your experiencing another, unrelated, allergy, though.

For example, after taking an antibiotic containing Sulfamethoxazole, I discovered I have a sulpha allergy, but I don't react to sulfur in eggs, soaps, and other substances.

Basically, one is natural, and one is a created chemical.

What soap are you wanting to use? Did your doctor tell you to use it?
