I had terrible explosive diarrea with sulfamethoxozole tmp.

Yes, that is a typical side effect of most antibiotics, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and non-allergic skin rash.

The best thing to do is to make sure you take in enough liquid to avoid dehydration, unless you're on fluid restriction.
