I have a deep skin infection in my lower leg on the back. I,m wonderind if taking this medicine will help with the infection. I had it in about the same spot 4 to 5 yrs ago and it has apperared again in the same general area.Need to knowasap thanks.

Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, the active ingredients in Bactrim, is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections.
However, if you just have leftovers from a prior prescription, then you likely won't have enough to finish a full course of treatment and will need to see your doctor for a new prescription, otherwise you run the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
However, if you develop hives you should seek immediate medical attention as a serious allergic reaction may be starting.
