Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds Tablet Headache

my spouse was prescribed sulfamethoxazole -tmp ds on feb 25. for 3 days. 1 tab 2-day she took total 5 tabs and had to stop. got severe headaches starting feb 27. it's now march 4th and still have headaches. went to er, doctor found nothing, did ct scan. prescribed fioricet 5-0-325-40 but pharmacy sub butal-acet-caff 50-325-40, which is not helping headaches. can any one help

Hello, Dennis! How is she feeling? Has it eased up, yet?

When I had an allergic reaction to this antibiotic a few years ago, it took a couple weeks for the headache it caused to go away, so it may just be a matter of time, if the doctors found no other reason for it.

Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

What type of infection was being treated? Did she switch to a different antibiotic to finish eradicating it?
