Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds Allergic Reaction

my doctor prescribed my sulfamethoxazole-tmp ds tablet 1 twice a day for 3 day for
urine infection , I star with one after 60 seconds I HAVE SERIOUS ALLERGY REACTION , NAUSEA,DROWSINESS,SKIN RASH OVER MY BADY ,IN 5 MINUTES WENT INTO URGENT CARE AND THEY STAR PREDNISONE AND BENADRIL ,THIS WAS TERRIBLE ,I WAS LOOKY BECAUSE URGENT CARE WAS NEAR FROM MY HOUSE ,NEVER FORGET IT.

Hi, Jula! Very sorry to read about the problem you had with this medication.

Since it's a sulfa based antibiotic, it is actually fairly common for such things to occur. Approximately 3% of the population ends up being allergic to it.

I am, however, very glad that you were able to get to urgent care so fast to get proper treatment.
