Sulfamethoxazole And Trimethoprim Tablets

I have a prescription dated 01/07/13 for Sullfameth/trime thoprim 800/160 tabs, is it ok for me to take them now?

This is a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim and the expiration date would have been one year from when it was dispensed to you by your pharmacy. Medications degrade over time, due to exposure to the elements, such as heat, light and moisture, thus, they will no longer be as effective as they were, when new and this creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.

So, if you have an infection and require an antibiotic, it would best to see your doctor for a new prescription.

Side effects to this medication nay include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash.
