Sulfamethoxazole Tmp Ds Tablet Used For

I was put on this antibiotic because an infection was found in my blood work . What kind of infections can be found in blood work to have this prescribed to me plz help me I am worried.

It's really more of a broad antibiotic that can be effective at treating various types of infections, so they may not even be certain of the specific infection and just prescribed this to try to eradicate it, regardless of the type and origin.

In most cases, what happens is that while testing your blood in the lab, they discover that your white cell count is elevated and, if the elevation isn't severe enough to be a cause for alarm, the most common cause is an infection somewhere in your body. The white cells are actually your disease fighters.

That's why I said that your doctor may not even know the origin or specific type of infection, but they do know that there most likely is one somewhere and they have prescribed you a medication that can effectively treat most of them. Without any outward symptoms to pinpoint the infection more accurately, there's really no way to know more.

But have you been prone to any types of infections, such as ear, sinus, dental or etc.?
