Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800 160 Bactrim

Began taking a pill last night of sulfamethoxazole/tmp for cellulitis. Wanted to take it this morning by 8 am. To stay on schedule. But just ate some grapefruit for breakfast. I didn't notice instructions not to eat grapefruit. At what time should I now take my medicine? How long should I wait?

Grapefruit may slightly reduce the efficacy of your next dosage, but it doesn't cause aNY seriously dangerous interactionS, thus it is usually best to continue with your dosing schedule and just avoid grapefruit for the rest of the duration you that are taking it. You should always double check with your doctor, of course, but in most cases, there is no serious concern.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.
